          Career Education

To complement our holistic, college-preparatory curriculum, St. Thomas More’s Career Education Program provides students with the skills, experience, and professional certification required for jobs in high-demand industries, such as healthcare and manufacturing.

          Nursing Assistant Certification Program

In our Nursing Assistant Certification Program, students learn the skills and procedures needed to assist patients with their daily living activities and specialized care needs. Complementing our biomedical science curriculum, this program consists of college-level instruction in medical theory held at Milwaukee Area Technical College and clinical hours performed at local healthcare facilities.

After finishing their classwork and on-site responsibilities, along with passing a state-administered competency test, students become Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs), a professional certification required to assist Registered Nurses (RNs) and Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) in patient-care facilities. After completing the Nursing Assistant Certification Program, students will have valuable clinical experience that puts them ahead of their college peers and prepares for high-demand jobs in nursing and patient care, with or without additional formal education.

          SMART Manufacturing

An interdisciplinary course combining engineering, fine arts, and business, St. Thomas More’s SMART Manufacturing course helps students master common manufacturing techniques, such as turning, milling, cutting, CNC, and 3-D printing. Through innovative technology, this course also utilizes augmented and virtual reality to create immersive, lifelike experiences that provide students with a deeper understanding of complex topics and scenarios.

Upon completion of this course and passing a proficiency exam, students become Certified Production Technicians (CPTs), an internationally recognized certification for advanced manufacturing production. With this professional certification, students will be qualified for many entry-level positions in the manufacturing industry and possess the academic foundation needed to pursue additional education in engineering, product development, and supply chain management.
